It’s wildly distracting to be home and in the throes of holiday festivities in the Toronto tropics (a surprisingly balmy 16°C today) while trying to write about what happened during the last week of school. Stuff… happened…? I think I have notes. And I vaguely remember a take home exam that ate up most of the week. That feels like a long time ago. As I catch up on my Canadian holiday traditions – watching Love Actually (my all-time favourite Christmas movie. Say what you like about it, but I like it very much, just as it is) with university friends in advance of our annual reunion in Guelph, prepping gifts and menus for the three days of family Christmas, and generally catching up with old friends and extended family as I’m not planning to visit again for the next two years. Well that’s it. 3.5 months in Bordeaux done, and I’m on my way home.  I’m starting this post sitting in the Merignac airport, a 45 minute bus ride from my apartment near Place de la Victoire.  My bag is stuffed with Christmas gifts for the family, and a long list of things I need to bring back with me upon my return in two weeks. I’m not bringing much wine home, thanks to Canadian alcohol tariffs (and also because I haven’t been able to successfully build up my collection to a point where there is enough to bring anywhere – someone keeps drinking it!)
